Old truck appreciation (and high mileage)

Any chance you remember a club called Five Valley Four Wheelers? My dad waa heavily involved and I spent a ton of time in the back of his CJ5 as a kid on their adventures. He bought his new in Missoula in 1975, and still owns it.

    Montana draw 2026

Where else are people supposed to apply for deer? Pretty basic math that with so few LE units to apply, odds will be terrible.

    Pronghorn in the Bitterroot!?!

That's very cool. I hadn't heard about it either. There's also been a few hanging out around Clearwater Junction the last few years.

    Sunday Pic of the Day

Very cool. I grew up next door to the cemetery, but haven't been through there in a long time. When the War ended and my Granddad got home from Europe, he wanted to build a house. He went over and took enough boards from the internment barracks to build the house that I grew up in.

2020ish. Like I said, the IT guy didn't get the memo.

    Otc Sheep

Although I can't find the bill now, I'm almost certain that the legislature passed a bill saying you can only buy points if eligible to apply for that species in the drawing. Goal being that kids under 12 and people on the 7 year wait couldn't build points. It just seems that nobody bothered...

Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

I am so God damn sick of this joke. I have an interstitial lung disease and live in an area with terrible air quality in the summer. I have a kick ass filtration system in my house, but obviously my beat up old pickup doesn't. You can bet your ass when I go out when it's 100 AQI, I listen to...

Every Tacoma ever built, was built in North America. Mainly Mexico.

    Quintessential Western Whitetail?

If I remember right the buck I killed on that hunt scored within an inch or two of yours. For me the quintessential western WT hunt means the ground is covered in larch needles, cutting grizzly/wolf/lion tracks every day, and being soaked to the bone. Me personally, elevation doesn't...

FFS, we get it. You're "quirky".

    Montana 2026 Elk Proposal

Thank you @MTelkHuntress , that's super helpful. The sheep amendment is what I was curious about. So yet again they override the biologist trying to close the West Fork sheep unit, and on top of that they expanded the tag boundaries.

RFI Bonner - West Riverside, MT

You'll most likely not want to live right in Bonner due to the noise and housing options. Housing is expensive within commuting distance but probably nothing that'd surprise you coming from Colorado. Economic outlook for that area is fantastic. Lots of future development in the forecast...

    Mule deer opportunity?

Mature buck ratio on winter surveys is what I would be most interested in. Just my opinion, bit I don't think as many "trophy" bucks would have been killed in the Bitterroot the last 25 years had it stayed general. I personally wouldn't put any weight on that small of a sample size using that...

    Mule deer opportunity?

No, all points other than eye guards are counted. There have been some really cool bucks killed on that tag though. The vast majority of the big (200"+) mule deer that come out of 270 have nontypical configuration and cheaters like this. Maybe that's the case everywhere, but I don't think...

Thank you! Yep. Tough decision, but I'm very happy with how it all played out.

I haven't. There's some incredible choices. It's going to be a hard decision.
