    Investment company?

My views are very similar. Had we not gotten debt free we would not have realized what a rewarding accomplishment this is, how you sleep better at night, etc.

    Investment company?

Can you guarantee the growth on the asset? He can guarantee that he will have his home paid off if he follows a strict plan. I'm not saying your approach is wrong. Statistically it will probably work out, but you can't guarantee it. I don't like owing people money. Haven't had a mortgage or...

.308 Stevens 334 ongoing thoughts and review.

I bought the exact same gun a few months ago to have around here as a loaner rifle for kids, friends, etc. that I take deer hunting. Put a Leupold VX2 3x9 on it. The bolt is pretty sloppy in my opinion. You have to pull some slack out of the trigger before it fires which is a little weird...

    Investment company?

Lots of good thoughts here, I'll add one more thing in favor of paying off the mortgage. With your early payoff plan, you can 100% guaranteed get the mortgage paid off in ten years and be free of that debt with a whole lot of money freed up to do whatever you want with it. With simply paying...

    Investment company?

I've got a little different view than most here. I'd continue to work hard to pay off your mortgage. Having a paid for home is a great feeling and reduces financial risk in event of a major surprise like a job loss, health emergency, etc. considerably. You'll then have all of that money...

Source for Ithaca Mod 37 Barrels?

I've inherited a couple real nice Ithaca Mod 37's with Deerslayer slug barrels that don't serve much purpose anymore as my home state and adjoining states now allow rifles. Thought I might get vent rib upland game barrels for them so they might see some use with myself or family members. Ithaca...

    Deer Camp is More Fun

Harvested a real nice eight point whitetail on our back forty the other day, hunting our home farm, by myself. Although I wouldn't trade my ability to do this for anything, I've come to the conclusion that it's far more fun going on a hunting trip, or to deer camp with your group of friends...

    Deer - lets see em

Today is last day of muzzle loader season and I'm unable to hunt so needed to get something done last night or it would be my last chance of the season with a firearm. Been passing up lots of bucks this size all season and I let him walk by me at 4PM. When he came back by at 40 yards with...

    Hunting Leases/Kids Hunting/Drury Syndrome

Really depends upon where you live. In pretty rural areas it's still a rather easy matter to get permission to hunt a property. More is leased now than ever, but I'll bet 50% of hunters around here are still hunting for free via permission.

    Hunting Leases/Kids Hunting/Drury Syndrome

I just wish more kids would show an interest in hunting. There is still plenty of opportunity for them, but not a great deal of interest. Too many other activities using up their bandwidth.

How about an Eastern US hunting issue?

I'm in agreement with this. Don't know how long it is going to take, but something has to change. Since US businesses' (Monsanto, Pioneer, Deere, etc, etc.) taught the rest of the world how to farm we no longer have many offshore markets for corn, beans & wheat. We grow way more of this...

How about an Eastern US hunting issue?

$100 Per acre taxes are not the case around here. I've got farms in both IN and IL, both good farm ground and pay $20-30 / acre taxes. Only places I've seen the high tax rates like mentioned are where farmers are still farming parcels of ground on town fringes, in industrial park areas, etc...

How about an Eastern US hunting issue?

I agree with the above. Make your land more desirable to the deer via cover, food plots, etc. Fencing or big piles or windrows of brush and trees to alter deer travel patterns. Make them comply with the legal requirements of the easement, no more vehicles. Shut off any access onto your place...

Here's an old Indian trick better than the wood smoke idea. Set up where the deer will show up on the upwind side of you.

    Tax advice

I think a lot of small business owners worry too much about petty things like depreciation, saving a nickel of taxes here and there when what they should really be concentrating on is running a highly profitable business. If your business is a loser, flat or marginally profitable, no amount of...
