We had an amazing trip, our second hunt in North Park…learned a lot of new country as dads tag was valid for several of those units. It was time well spent and I am so proud of the effort dad and our group put in scouting before the season and during the hunt but leaving CO, his cow tag was...
Dad and I leave tomorrow to get a couple scout days in before his north park cow moose tag starts. Haven’t been in that country since 2020 and looking forward to being there again.
Any stories, pics from this fall to share of your time in the north park units-161, 171, 6, 16, 17?
Yes, the real potential for access issues with snow or just breaking down camp and getting off the mountain, are a major concern of mine. For that reason, I might try to stay close to county road 6/state line road to base camp from. Would think the amount of road traffic on that main artery...
Agreed. However, that’s just the time frame we have available to go. We had originally applied and our party struck out drawing anything in CO 3rd season so we made different plans for the fall. Then dad found out a couple weeks later from CPW that he was next on the alternates list and the...
Question for those who have experience hunting 3rd season, specifically CO 161. My dad drew a cow moose tag that is valid for any of the 4 rifle seasons in 6, 16, 17, 161 and 171. We’re planning to focus our efforts in 161 based on some experience in that unit as well as recommendations by the...
Well, didn’t see this coming….dad got an email from CPW yesterday morning stating the one nonresident that drew the cow moose tag he applied for, returned it and he was the alternate! He accepted the tag this morning and we’ll be looking forward to the experience in North Park.
No, I ended up doing some other hunts last year. Did talk with some bios in different areas in my research but didn’t find what I was looking for in the timeframe I wanted. Good luck to you guys this next season.
Dad and I finally cashed in our points for Wyoming this year and went on our first antelope hunt. It was absolute blast. Far different than most hunts we do, i would say but it was a welcomed pace. Never have passed on so many legal animals and made so many stalks in my life, I have a...
To say it was “good to get up in the mountains” this spring, would be a huge understatement. Spring time in the Wallowa Mountains of NE Oregon is perfection. The new growth of wildflowers and budding vegetation, the wild swings in weather will have you huddled under a tree next to a camp fire...
Hey there, I came across your post about drawing a cow tag for Wyoming Unit 39. I’m looking to apply there next fall for the type 4 tag that is unit wide. Did you draw the type 4 or the type 6?
If you wouldn’t mind commenting on how your experience was in cow hunting unit 39, I would really...
Thanks Justin, I appreciate the reply. And congrats on filling a tag and having a fun hunt, that’s what it’s all about! If I do end up applying and drawing this tag, would you mind if I run some questions by you as I scout the hunt?
Hey there, I am looking hard at applying for the 120-6 cow tag. I read that you drew the tag this year and if you are willing, would love to hear how your hunt went? Hope you had a successful season. Thanks, Dane.
