In to the Great Unknown- Wyo Doe Antelope

I think it went exactly how this hunt was supposed to. There's only about 5 chunks of ground that are both accessible and have a reasonable chance of holding an antelope in the unit. They range in size from a half section of ground to about 10,000 acres. We had an opportunity immediately as we...

    Deer, Elk, Antelope Same Unit….

As a WY resident you can get general deer and general elk every year. Antelope is draw and no general option. At least where I hunt the general deer is good everywhere I go. I got my archery mulie last year while elk hunting. If you are OK with doe antelope you should be able to hunt all 3 every...

    Son's First Pronghorn 2025

Well, it's been a few weeks since the hunt and I haven't gotten around to posting even a picture, let alone a recap of the hunt. So, I guess I will go about that now. I am sitting on 5 points for antelope here in UT. My 16 yr old had 3 points. We both put in for the same unit and he drew and I...

    2022 Hunting Adventures Recap

My homeboy, C, came in from across the state where he’d moved with his new bride. He brought his lovely wife and we headed to Montana to hunt doe antelope with my daughter Hope. We had three tags. I got a bonus coyote, C got a doe, and I also got a doe after my daughter missed one. It was a long...

    Five antelope, seven days

Sun AM no alarm set, so we can catch up on sleep. I got up before sunrise to catch a little walk. I got several panorama photos that are better, but the file size is too large to upload. Sun AM slow start as planned. About 9 AM we leave camp to try and relocate the group of animals from the...

    My 2024 Iowa season

More hiking and glassing. I have a whitetail doe tag so we did some glassing along the river bottom. No deer seen so off we go again. Last piece of public for the day there's some antelope not far off the road. The boys decide Reece is up again so all he has to do is sneak over a small rise and...

    The quick and the dead

Well the stalk on the heart shaped buck went very well. We got 350 yards or so until we ran out of cover. So we got setup and luckily they were rutting fairly hard still on Sept. 29. They ended up getting to about 252 yards from us. She took the shot and no go, and those antelope took off like a...

    2024 Colorado Draw Results Thread

No dice for antelope. I put the doe muzzleloader tag as a second choice with a point first and didn't get it. I drew it as a second choice last year. Tags in my corner of the state are getting harder to draw with the winter kills in the NW of the state and those guys coming down here to hunt...

Was my experience normal...or did I somehow F&#K up?

It sounds like you put a tremendous amount of effort into your hunt, and it's frustrating when things don't go as planned, especially after hearing about others' success in the same area. It's not uncommon for hunting experiences to vary widely, even within the same unit or area.

2024 - Season of Good Fortune and Financial Ruin

I turned in my Utah antlerless application. I had a small chance at a cow elk tag and another small chance at a doe pronghorn tag. Shortly after the Utah antlerless application period closed, I received an email informing me that I'd drawn an archery pronghorn tag in a pretty good unit in the...

Was my experience normal...or did I somehow F&#K up?

Maybe I read this post too fast but I don’t recall seeing the word “water” even once. Anytime I’m lope hunting, that’s the first thing I focus on. Finding water, preferably running streams. If I didn’t find any at first, I’d begin checking the more remote drainages further into the hunt. And...

    Ranging while crawling/stalking

Did the same thing the other weekend on a pronghorn.. snuck in so perfect, antelope in a perfect little crevasse… could see their backs feeding in the cut and I’d peek up to range, only getting the laser to hit the grass between us. I knew they were decently close but I didn’t want to just send...
