Killing for content, taking irresponsibly long shots (even when they say they practice a lot and are such great shots), and wounding animals never to be found seems to be the name of the game on YouTube. It seems even more prevalent with the guys with less than 15,000 followers for some reason...
Make sure you’ve got a copy of your NZ hunting permit and the Non-CITES Declaration Form from the Department of Conservation website so USFWS can copy down the species info and confirm they’re not CITES animals.
I filled out the pre-clearance form for USFWS before I departed NZ and it wasn’t...
I just brought a salted and not even dry tahr hide back in May. USFWS and customs didn’t care, they just wanted to confirm that it was a hunting trophy and was not a commercial item. I also brought in vacuum sealed meat that was frozen when I left but had thawed by the time I arrived in LAX...
I used to take 12 or so but after about 15 years of never using more than 3, I’ve trimmed it down.
I took 6 on a recent deer hunt, used 1. I took 8 on a recent hunt in grizzly country, 2 extra for the bears I guess, used 0.
They were trying to close that unit a day earlier than when it actually closed, but they had already published the daily update and couldn’t figure out how to update the website twice in one day. No rams were killed the extra day, but still pretty dumb.
I still think it's worth the price, even though its $176 per pound, which puts it at $2.11 per shot for me. Projectiles are another $2.56 per shot. Primers another $0.09. So at $4.76 per shot that's in line with some of the premium ammunition brands for big cartridges.
Luckily I bought 6...
That’s unacceptable. Censoring of communication has no place in backcountry communication and could even be a safety issue. I’d cancel immediately.
They’ve made their service especially useless for hunters.
“I’m screwed! My gun is f***ed!”
Becomes
“I’m screwed! My *** is ******!”
This is the craziest thing I’ve heard in a while:
“In the crowd of around 100 gathered in the Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion (not actually where Gov. Jared Polis, his husband, Marlon Reis, and their two children live), they wanted to know why ranchers don’t do a better job of...
I've got about 2 more weeks of training until hunts begin. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make it over to Morrison to post a 60 pound time beforehand. Maybe I'll give it a go at the end of September. I'll either be in excellent shape from all the hiking or wrecked from all the pack...
I agree that you won’t regret buying a high end brand like Western Mountaineering. The challenge is that you don’t know what kind of September you’re going to get. I’ve had 40 degree nights mid-September and I’ve had 25 degree nights with 18” of snow mid-September. So buying a bag now for the...
