    Goat meat options

Not really useful advice for you now I guess npaden, since you've already processed your Mountain Goat. But I've taken two old Billies and processed them myself. I made very little burger. Mostly steaks, roasts and jerky. It's all good. Roasts are the most tender way to do it up, as long as you...

Access to private lands that receive public subsidies?

SFCB, to answer your question, I'm a lifelong Indiana resident. With all due respect I wanted to mention a few errors in your posts. First you stated "The least of those in the example made almost a quarter of a million dollars in this six year period". You need to re-read your own...

Access to private lands that receive public subsidies?

No. Those aren't wildlife damage subsidies, they're payments like DCP's which are roughly 12.00 per acre for farmed ground. That tiny amount wouldn't even pay half of the annual property taxes on farm land. They also can include farm disaster payments, although those are now rare in this day...

Primtive Folk Art Fish Trade Sign

Did you ask the seller? In the absence of any clarification from the seller, I'd assume it to be brand new and probably foreign-made.

    colo draw results

No luck, still waiting for long-shot DBH results. BTW, based on # of NR applicants versus # of NR tags issued, the current average wait to draw a Colorado Mt Goat tag is 80 years, and for Rocky Sheep 143 years. Make plans accordingly !

    Low Country Elk??

Colorado Eastern Plains has unlimited OTC licenses and a 5-month long season. You'll probably have to go with an outfitter though, it's mostly private land.

Gentleman's Proposal Re: MT Nonresident Sheep

The other thing, and I hate to mention it, that causes a higher volume of NR's to apply for ewe tags (and ram tags too) is the relatively cheap NR tag price (750), compared to other western states. Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico being the other 3 states offering ewe tags, charge 3-4 times as...

Gentleman's Proposal Re: MT Nonresident Sheep

Also as I mentioned above, if we as NR were going to "lobby" for anything, IMO we should lobby for our own measly 10% NR allocation by region, with specific ram and ewe tags placed in a separate NR draw. Good luck with that one though!

Gentleman's Proposal Re: MT Nonresident Sheep

rmyoung1- It's actually not that complicated for this particular issue. Don't even worry about the complexities of how the draw is executed, point status, point squaring, and etc, but rather just note the algorithm used for distributing tags to NR's is to limit them to up-to-10% of the sheep...

Gentleman's Proposal Re: MT Nonresident Sheep

When I first began studying the MT sheep draw stats many years ago, I too worried that NR's applying for and drawing ewe tags might be causing NR ram tags to be "lost". However in actual practice this seldom happens. When NR fail to draw a full 10% limit of a region's total tag allocation, no NR...
