    Heart rate monitor watch

Are you connecting the HRM to a watch or directly to your phone? My HRM is connected to my Instinct and I use the Garmin Connect App, It's not perfect but it works pretty well. I use it more to track miles, duration and elevation and not so much heart rate. I use my watch to monitor my heart...

    Unique Big Game Regulations

Does anyonoe besides Colorado require the nuts remained attached when quartering or deboning?

    West coast salmon recovery

I wonder what happens to all of the retardant that actually hits the mark during the next rain.

Lugging base camp into the backcountry...

I'm the same way with alcohol. I need to plan well to make sure I sleep well in the back country or at base camp. I'm 6'4 and sleeping on standard size pads used to kill me. I switched to a two person Tarp Tent, the XL Big Agnes Q-Core, a good pillow and a bag that fits me well and it's...

    Losing the Family Farm

My great grandfather, his 3 brothers, and 4 brothers in-law bought a 600 acre island here in the lower Sacramento River Delta in the 1940's for duck hunting and family weekends. We no longer hunt there and, thankfully, the state bought the majority of the property but my brothers and I own 1/4...

    Snow in Sierra's

Lake Alpine Lodge on Monday. About 7,300'. I don't have a reference photo but it's a good sized building.

    Caitlin Clark

That was a fun game to watch with my 13 year daughter. Caitlin is quite a role model with the effort she gives and the way she carries herself.

    Losing the Family Farm

If you do end up buying it with your brother and possibly others I would recommend setting up an LLC to take ownership and create a really good operating agreement on how it's going to be run. You'll also need to make sure the succession planning is done really well. Who takes over if you or...

    MLB

Nothing wrong with that. I'm looking forward to the changes as well. I'll have a much better chance of getting my 10 year to watch some baseball.

    How to say goodbye...

We had to put our 14 year old lab down 2 years ago next month. My daughter was 11 and my son was 8. Like your situation I don't think she would have lived nearly as long without the kids being around and my daughter was especially close to her. I had the same concerns about the kids as you...

Have you seen the prices of new aluminum boats these days?

We bought a 18'6" Alumacraft Edge in 2019. I want to say it was $48,000 with a good trolling motor and electronics. It's still an aluminum boat but it's a far cry from the 15' Gregor I grew up running around in. We've had a lot of good family time in that boat, well worth the investment for me.

    Snow in Sierra's

I remember a pineapple express in the 90's that did a lot of damage with snow melt. There was a mudslide that flowed down to the Stanislaus and ended up blowing out and taking the Sourgrass bridge and a D6 that was parked there with it down the river. It seems similar to that now. It was during...

    Snow in Sierra's

Our place at 5,000' has 5 or 6 feet of snow on the ground and the 10 day has 8" plus of rain. Still plenty of room in New Melones for more water down the Stanislaus but it's going to be interesting. They'll be over 600" at Bear Valley by the weekend which, according to there records, has only...

    Video games

Between screen time restrictions, sugar restrictions and making sure they get good sleep, I'm also in the running. My kids are 10 and 13 now and while they don't always agree, they're starting to get why moderation is best. I typically like the games more than just watching the screen as long...
