Hunting backpack that works for carry-on

I use a MR Pintler often and have used the Metcalf a couple of times. Never had an issue yet but there is a first time for everything I suppose. If I am flying it is not for a hunt so no worries on cross pollination.

    Arizona Draw Results 2026

I am either hunting Kaibab Mule Deer or Coues around the Mogollon Rim. I am a happy camper either way. When do we find out what we actually drew so I can put in PTO and make travel plans? This is my first Arizona tag.

What are your 2026 Outdoor Plans

Should have enough points to draw the late October Arizona Coues deer tag I put in for. If I do draw, it will be a new species in a new habitat type. I am very excited. Planning a weekend scouting trip in September and then going to arrive in the unit 5 days before the season to sit behind the...

    As they lay

Thanks man. Took a long break from any sort of social media. It was a well needed reset. I missed you folks and the discussions on here so…here I am.

    As they lay

He did. And a short one. Went about 45 yards. He was 6 yards from the bottom of the tree I was up when I stuck him.

    As they lay

Haven’t been around in a coon’s age. This was always one of my favorite threads. Looks like you folks are still hard at it. I enjoy looking at your pics. Last season’s bow buck. Shot mid January: Rifle buck from a few days ago:

    Corn and antlers

Louisiana is no where near Iowa on the whitetail scale, nevertheless we have seen the same trend, which now seems to be accelerating. This is much more evident in the Mississippi River alluvial plain than in the Gulf Coastal Plain because the low ground is where the big big bucks and crops grow...

    308 ammo

Luckily I have a pile of Nosler Trophy grade and a pile of Accubond bullets for reloading stockpiled from before the prices went sky high. I have one .308 rifle that absolutely loves that round. I am a big fan of the Nosler Accubond but it is pricey these days. I also have a .308 rifle that...

Planning for an Eastern Montana mule deer hunt

I am driving all the way from Louisiana next season and I will be focusing on whitetails. I mean if I see a big ole mule deer I will go after it, but I have a hunch I will be coming home without a mule deer.

    Sleeping Pad Comfort

I will second this. I have the Xlite and the Xtherm NXT Max. Best thing I have ever done for my sleep system, even over the Western Mountaineering bag.

Solo Elk Hunt in Colorado: Am I About to Embark on a Glorious Disaster?

Just go if you have the time and can swing it financially. You won’t regret it no matter if you take an animal or not. You should learn enough to make it worthwhile regardless because you will be much more experienced for your next trip.

Comparison of Resident Opportunities in Different States

Louisiana has tons of resident opportunity. Too much, in my opinion, when it comes to public land deer and turkey.
