    Arizona credit card

Got an archery bull tag for 5BS after 8 years. My hunting buddy just found out he has a heart condition and can't go to altitude so he will turn his tag in. At 73 I can still pull the bow so I will be hunting alone this year. I am sure it will be my last elk hunt. I have hunted the unit for 35...

    West coast salmon recovery

Our best day on the Nush was 121 kings for four of us. All boondogging salmon eggs on a drift. That was the greatest river ever. Last trip we caught only 7 kings in three days of fishing with the nets out.

    West coast salmon recovery

I fished Oregon every weekend through the 70s and 80s. There were huge runs of salmon and I doubt any dams were built since then. OF&G has closed hatcheries which doesn't help. Finally are starting to limit catch. About time. There are a few thousand guides and I have used many. They are good at...

    SE Alaska Fishing

Sitka is good for halibut and ling cod as well as salmon. Lots of guides and lodges there. We are doing Frontier Charters in June. Also the most scenic part of Alaska IMO. We fished with a friend out of Juneau for a 7 day boat trip but the halibut fishing was not that great. Homer can be good...

    Lost my lifemate.

Tarheel- we are going through the same thing now. 54 years and at 71 mine has pancreatic cancer. She's living like she doesn't have the disease but we both know she has a limited time here. I know it will be a terrible loss when it actually happens. We were just 18 year old kids when we got...

    Handgun suggestions for first one

I have a S&W 586 in 4". Really classic pistol and reminds me of the Colt Python. Smooth and accurate. I keep a round of bird shot in it for rattlers. It is .357 and will knock down most animals and humans if the need arises. I have an H&K USP compact in .40 S&W that never fails if you want a...

    Anyone using rattlesnake vaccine?

I just killed diamondback #2 in my back yard and he about got my dog and me. He is in the jar with tanning juice now. Our vet is good with the shot and we figure it doesn't cost much so why not. There was a big one in the middle of the dog park Sunday and I offered to kill it and had 5 old...

    Anybody flown home with fish?

In the old days we would take ziploc bags. Put the fish in them then down in a bucket of water until all the air was out then seal them. Worked for many years for us.

    Anybody flown home with fish?

I have fished Alaska 28 times and always sent my fish in a cooler after it was vacuum packed and hard frozen. Never a problem. A 48 quart cheap cooler is about 50 pounds loaded. I keep a cooler with the luggage straps and clips that are glued on with epoxy so they can just open the clips to...

    Ditching the Dip

I have dipped for 57 years now. I quit cold turkey a few times for one year then started again. I quit this year for 6 months then decided I enjoyed the nasty habit and since my wife has pancreatic cancer why the hell wouldn't I live the rest of my short life like I want. I never go to a doctor...

    One 1 Ton Diesel Truck

I had the nasty Ford 6.0 and after $14000 in a year gave it up. I bought a 2015 GMC 3500 Duramax because my wife has pancreatic cancer and when she is gone I plan on living in a fifth wheel so need the bigger truck. I really like the Duramax and it is a screamer. Having a 45 gallon auxiliary...

    NM Bear hunt

I used to hunt unit 10 a lot for elk and turkey. I was with a Navajo kid hunting ML elk when we topped a hill that had a hard rock top. We split up and after a few steps he shoots. Starts yelling "come quickly! I shot a bear and it might eat me." He was jamming more powder in his rifle. The bear...

    Az Ban Trail Cams?

It is all about the Kaibab. Outfitters might have 200-500 cameras each in the units and they pattern the largest animals for their customers. They know when and where and size of most of the trophy deer in the area. They have messed in their own living rooms and are going to lose the camera...

    Aftermarket bumper input

I was hit in the parking lot at Powell twice this year so I took my bumpers off the Tundra and put Smittybilt M1 front and back plus a front winch. 1/4" and 3/8" welded steel with LED lights. Try to hit me now. They did not effect the handling at all but they are heavy. Not hard to install.
