I am a “western hunter,” and inside ~350yrds, I can think of no finer an elk cartridge. This is also my upper limit I’ll shoot at game. OBVIOUSLY bias. This bull was 300yrds and DRT. Handload 200gr HC, moving 2580 MV. Recovery in off-side hide.- Nubs308

I sent the whole gun standard shipping. He is an FFL and able to send/receive. I had the same questions you did. Give him a call and he’ll answer all of your questions. Sent it to Jesse at http://www.35caliber.com/. Call him up, he did great work for me. About $250 and 14day turn around. It wasn’t a new barrel, it’s the factory Bergara barrel rebored out to 338Fed. I like to believe it’s the first of its kind ;)- Nubs308

Great caliber! Had a bergara b14 308 rebored into 338fed. It’s a shooter with 200gr Trophy Bonded Tips. Wasn’t able to get it on animals last year, but groups are right at 1MOA, maybe a bit larger due to the shooter, but is just as accurate as the 308 and 7mm-08 it lives next to. Luxe Outdoor Megahorn III
I have the XL. It worked very well for me this past winter during a 10 day elk hunt in CO. Can fit 2 guys, LOTS of gear, cots, wood stove and wood supply. Even more guys if you with more minimalist set-up. Unfortunately it buckled during a 14" snowstorm, as did much of camp that wasn't tucked...- Nubs308
