    My Last Remote Alaska Hunt

Totally understand, Michael. I would like to go again, and even though I feel I'm in good shape, I know that my age is an obstacle on very remote DIY hunts. I did get my moose 2 years ago, and would like to do it again, but damn....they are a lot of work! I would like to go back in the 40 Mile...

    My Last Remote Alaska Hunt

Congrats on another successful hunt, Michael. Curious to why you say it's your last remote Alaska hunt. I have been tossing around the idea of going with 40 Mile again and doing a caribou hunt.

Anyone with an old DUI gone to Canada in the last few years?

On our first hunting trip to Alaska, my son who had a DUI 2 years previous while in college, was at first denied entry at the Saskatchewan border at Portal. He was taken into a room and interrogated for about an hour, I was then led into a room an interrogated for about the same time. My son was...

    2021 Alaska moose

My rifle is zeroed at 100 yards, as most of the deer I shoot are inside of 100 yards. I figured that in the area I was moose hunting, most shots would be about the same.

    2021 Alaska moose

I shoot HMS Berger 130gr VLD's in my gun, as they have proven to group well out of my rifle. I know most will say they are too lite for moose, but the rifle has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. My father took 12 moose with the same rifle back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, albeit Canadian moose...

    2021 Alaska moose

This was my 3rd DIY hunting trip to Alaska, after 2 successful caribou hunts, I was going with a resident friend for moose. We were approx. 270 miles north of Fairbanks, and had river access with my friend's airboat. We made it to the river and had camp set up by 6pm on the 11th, and spent the...

    Middle Fork Koyukuk

I'm a mere 50 days from leaving for another adventure in Ak. I will be on the Middle Fork Koyukuk from about the 10th through the end of moose season (25th). Any input on the fishing during the month of September would be appreciated.

40 Mile Air - Free Hunt

Well damn.....haven't been on this site for about a week, and it looks like I missed out. I've done 2 successful caribou hunts in AK, one of them being with 40 Mile in 2010. Very good people to work with, and I hope to go with them again in the near future.

    2019 AK Caribou Hunt

Nice hunt report, Michael. You always seem to get it done. Haven't been back since 2014, but will be doing a moose hunt next September down the Koyukuk.

    Caribou hunt 40 mile air

My son and I used 40 Mile Air for a drop hunt in 2010. Can't say enough good about the pilots, staff, and hunt area they put us in.

    2017 Moose and Caribou Hunt

Looks like another great adventure, Michael. Sure wish I could make the trip every year, but not in the cards just yet. I am working on a plan for a float hunt for caribou in 2019, and then moose hunts for 2020 and 2022. You've been blessed, and I enjoy reading your hunt reports and looking at...

    2017 Alaska Moose/Caribou Hunt - Booked!

Hey, Michael, good luck with your hunt next fall. Hope you and your buddy both get a shot at a bull. Did you get to go this fall? Because of some business issues, I have had to put a return trip on hold for a couple of years. Trying to get things lined out to go back in "18 or '19. Always...

    2017 caribou trip

These pics are from a hunt my son and I did in 2010, and we were flown in by 40 Mile Air. Would not hesitate to use them again.
