How many of you hunt with a muzzle brake?

I was unaware that I was exchanging views with an English major. I'll endeavor to pay more attention to sentence, paragraph structure and grammar in future posts,

How many of you hunt with a muzzle brake?

Why do YOU assume that I thought they would be anti-brake? Maybe they'd all love them - I have no idea, just thought that their professional opinions on them would be interesting.

How many of you hunt with a muzzle brake?

I wonder what some of these guys would have thought about muzzlebrakes: Jack O'Connor, Pete Brown, Townsend Whelen, Peter Hathaway-Capstick, John Taylor, Jim Corbett... Only a partial list, but you get the idea. I don't/won't use a muzzlebrake. If a gun has too much recoil (for me), out the...

    New guy from PA

Welcome - though I DIDN'T grow up in SW PA, I've deer hunted with friends there since 1974. (Grew up in SE PA, actually).

    Drop Camp Caribou Hunt

The only thing I would add is to check out taxidermy costs before you come up. One of the respondents suggested getting the taxi work done here. It will be much more expensive to have it done here, if you can find a good taxi close to home. I would expect the transportation costs back to MT...

    300 win mag rifles

I bought one (in the 300 WM) quite a few years back. Love it and still have it. Shoots a variety of loads fine.

    Home Made Drift Boat

The only question I have is - will it float? Just kidding - that's a beautiful boat for sure. Wish I had that kind of talent.

    Kodiak Blacktail Hunt

One good thing about pushing thru the brush here is - NO freakin snakes to think about. One bad thing is that the brush might not be as flexible as it is further south. :) Good luck on your hunt.

    Hunters with Alergies

If you try any of the over the counter meds to solve your son's allergy problems, go slowly. Like Westxhunter, I take a pill everyday. I use Aller-Tec, which (for me) has no side effects. Most allergy meds tend to make me sleepy or at least not very alert. Dosing him up might tend to negate...

    Where the sun don’t shine

For many years my Army dress trousers (mid 60's issue) were my main hunting pants. The pockets were sacrificed long before the pants finally wore out. The pockets were made of a pretty strong fabric - no need to double up to get the job done.

    Where the sun don’t shine

Well... he could have spent the rest of the day cleaning fish; when we got back.

Is this common practice at archery pro shops?

Ask the clerk what days the shop owner worked. Tell him you'd return than to check on the bows you wanted to shoot.

Bear safe food prep and storage in camp

"Guides and HUNTERS". In AK real world experience doesn't include a lot of "outfitted camps horses/mule packed -in with large tents, much gear & equipment". Most guided hunts revolve around small plane travel. As such, flights are minimized to increase profits. A lot of personal hunts can...

Bear safe food prep and storage in camp

All the guides (and hunters) I know (here in AK) cook and eat inside the tent (depending on weather). Most store food under the tent fly. (Lots of places there are no trees to hang food from and other "safe storage" methods are too bulky or heavy to be practical.) The rules on food storage and...
