I use the Newberg Gerber for much of my butchering but also carry a fixed blade for heavier work. I have my father’s buck knife but don’t carry it in the field because I lose stuff.- Dakotakid

I have taken a handful of elk with a 7mm-08 great cartridge but that discussion is too removed from the original post asking for pro and con of chopping a barrel. If you elect not to chop a barrel, great. -

The outdoor life suppressor testing had the lightest suppressor at 5.5 oz. The new 3d printed titanium suppressors are getting pretty light. They also tested recoil reduction and sound reduction. Looked like a pretty comprehensive test. I am not affiliated in any way. I do shoot a 300 wsm... -

I looked to see if there were any other charges filed against Mr Mckeon but got exasperated with social media comments that people believed they were hunting from a helicopter. Mid to Late Season Midlayer
I use the kuiu 240 with a layer or 3 underneath. I was good to below zero Fahrenheit. Much below -10 I am looking to add the guide pro jacket. The 240 is pretty versatile and has a bit of wind break.- Dakotakid

I have a Winchester model 70 in stainless that I had threaded and canned- 300 wsm. Works really well. I did not have to shoulder/ collar. 1/2x28. I have picked up a Kimber Montana in 300 wsm that I am planning to replace barrel with Lilja or proof in 18” Would like to go down to 7wsm or 6.5 prc...
