It appears that SE Wyoming is having warmer than usual weather.

Suppose to fly out for hunt 1st week of Oct.... how is the rut? Thinking i may need snake boots

I am in Northwestern Wyoming near the Montana border. Quite warm this week. A bit cooler at the higher elevations. The rut seems to be in full swing.
God luck to you.

Spent the last 6 days in the Big Horns at 8200ft. It was warm, but nice. Highs of 65 and lows in the low forties. Rut is good , bulls weren't responding to cow calls but would come in to check out a bugle. We got 3 angry 6x6s and one 5x5 with the bugle. Missed a few opportunities but had a blast.

Weather is too nice for elk hunting. Sunny 83 degrees.Hope for cooler weather .

It's been in the 70's and 80's for the past month but cooling close to freezing at night in antelope country. Rattlers are still out but I never really worry about wearing gators or snake boots. Bring lots of water because you'll likely need it during the day. The rut is really picking up and should be ok into the first week or so in Oct.
