I have been trying to decide for the last month if I should add a late season cow tag to my hunts this year. I have been looking at area 7 which has type 7 tags left which are for the whole unit in the month of January. Harvest numbers look pretty favorable, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice about the late season area 7 cow hunts. Can you still find elk on public land that late in the year or are they mostly on private? Also there are a number of HMA's in the unit, are they pretty heavily pressured? I am looking at this hunt because it works into my hunting schedule which usually ends after December.
