So I’ve got the green light for new binos from the wife. Ive currently got Swarovski 10x42 EL , Swarovski spotter and Leupold Santium BX5 15x56. The Leupold just don’t cut it. Thinking I would get more use out of the 12x Swarovski Pures than the 15’s Swarovski SLC. Thoughts ?

What are you going to use them for and how do you intend to use them? How do you intend to haul that Hubble around with you?

Pretty much using from the truck in this wide open country to locate and then stalk them. Thinking the 12x would probably work best

Why not use the 10’s you have to find them, along with a small-medium spotter?

What kind of distances are you spotting to? (*600+ yards? 1000 yards? 1500+ yards?). What game animals? (*guessing Mule Deer…?). I mean, it’s easier to see a 2000# Moose than a 300# deer…

I’m not saying the 12’s won’t be great…but it just doesn’t seem like enough of a step up to be a real game changer. 12x still seems like it might not be enough to get a real good look at antlers.

Elk,deer, antelope mostly. Glassing 1000+ yds. Just wanting to bump it up a tad plus something a little faster than setting the spotter up every time . Figured the 12x will be a little better and when a closer look is warranted I’ll throw the Swarovski big spotter on it

I have 12x50 ELs and have been tempted to upgrade to 12 or 14x NLs.. Just hand holding 14x NLs in scheels, i was floored at how steady i could hand hold them.

12x NLs seem to be the best balance if you're going to want something you can pull off your chest and look at stuff in addition to lots of tripod time. 14x (which i think are actually nearly 15x mag in reality) sound pretty awesome for dedicated glassing open country though. From what I gather, the 14 NLs are a significant upgrade over the 15x SLCs. If you are keeping the 10x ELs, would be hard to not want to spring for 14x NLs IMO.

Well I broke down and got the 12x NL’s. Figured I would probably get more use out of them and my old eyes can use all the help they can get

Midway had a screaming deal on the 14x NL’s demo today for $2799. Was tough to pass those up
