Old thread, but in my expert Kansas opinion, the best deer counties in the state are Barton, Pawnee, Saline, and Dickinson. Barton around Ellinwood, Pawnee west of Larned, Saline near Gypsum, and Dickinson south of Abilene. There's good WIHA land in the last two. An honorable mention if you have the opportunity to hunt there is Rawlins County up in NWK
