Yeah, people hate those laws, especially the new imports that come out west from other places and don’t have a clue about winter range, what types of things actually stress wildlife, what stress actually looks like and how it affects the animals, and the sheer scale of losses to quality winter range habitat that the west continues to experience. As far as other sources of stress go, I see a lot of human sign on the section. I'm pretty sure most of my neighbors think I'm that pussy who actual obeys the law.
No one can comprehend that likely 5 times that number of elk or deer used to winter on that state section and all of the surrounding ground where their cute little subdivisions are now. And now the animals are relegated to this little section encroached on by development and I’ll be GD if I can’t go hike/bike/ski/run my dog on that public land if I want to!!!! The animals are fine, or they’ll find somewhere else to go!!! Except we’re already living on the best ground, and they don’t have a bunch of good places left to go, just increasingly poor quality winter habitat. It’s a vicious cycle.
Nice to see you’re thinking about it and trying to minimize what you can.
