What is acceptable accuracy in your opinion

For my OCD? MOA for ten shots.

Functionally? 1.5 MOA will work. Calling wind is why I'll miss.

Personally, 1 moa or less @ 100 yards. I'm pretty picky though.

Since seeing some relatives shoot over the weekend, I'd be thrilled if they could hit a paper plate at 100...

Max distance given perfect conditions... I can ring steel all day long at 1,000 yards in perfect conditions. On a live animal, within 600.

I always try to get the best I can with a particular chambering. I want to say an inch. BUT.
When you are shooting a target, you have a Point to aim at. On game, you don't. You have to "pick" a spot and pull the trigger. I'm more concerned with hitting that spot. Take a full-size target out and set it at the range you think you will be shooting, say 250 yards. Now check your group size. Try to shoot where you want to hit and fire 3 times, not fast, take your time. If you're under 6", you're doing good, in my mind. Now go out and move the target a 1/4 turn either towards you or away, or more into the wind or in tall grass, between trees. That's where you find out your "HUNTING" group. Try it, it's good practice and much more fun.
My target, my little granddaughter, and I shoot at.

What it looks like at 300 yards.

As a bowhunter who only packs a rifle when either unsuccessful in the earlier season (or not drawn for it)...I kinda go with minute of dead! Prolly equates to about an inch and a half at 100.
In all honesty, my firearms definitely outshoot thee who bear them 🤷‍♂️

1 moa. Targets out to 600 yards which is all I have available and 400 yards on animals depending on the situation.

It needs to shoot well enough to place shots to the end of your ability. For most people that's about 1/2 MOA. Keep in mind that it's not always the target you have to hit as much as the gap you must thread the bullet through to get to the target.
