“What good did I do today?”

Did not think that I have done much of anything to write here, but then good things come in small pieces too.
My eldery neighbor has health issues and his wife is struggling to keep up.
Saw her struggling up their 1,300 foot driveway with their garbage can, did not say anything to her but took over her garbage can duties and keeping their driveway clear of leaves. (this has been going on since last fall)
Yesterday I recieved the greatest teary eyed hug you could ever ask for, priceless.

As we get older I can't tell you younger guys how much we appreciate the little things. It may be something that we can still get done given enough time but the little things are things that we don't have to do.

A little bump for the day.
One of the farmers who lets me run their properties (for clean up and hunting) wanted me to grind some stumps.

They rented the grinder for the whole weekend, but it only l took me a few hours. They told me I could use it for the rest of the time and go make some money.

Well I did my own modified version. Aka help people, provide super cheap jobs, and continue to teach my daughter hard work.

I ended up making a post on the local Facebook asking people who needed stumps removed for super cheap or if someone was less fortunate and could use a smile we could do that.

I did 12 stumps so far and have 20 more tomorrow.

I charged about $25 a stump. I had my daughter clean up the sawdust and paid her $5 per job.

Of the 12 stumps I only charged for 6. The other 6 were people who I think needed a win.

If you’ve been quoted for stump removals before I think you know free to $25 per is a steal.

Lots of wins:
My daughter learns hard work and teaching my daughter good deeds

Town is pretty excited about the post so hopefully it inspires some others to go do good for the day.

I get to play with a giant stump grinder and be outside.

Win, win, win, win. Etc

I smiled at the grocery store folks and said “Thank You, it IS a good day.”

I had 20 people over to celebrate a 3 year old’s birthday…we don’t have children of our own.

I offered my home to my niece for their coming baby shower…

I offered my truck, my trailer, two dozen moving totes (small to large) for their coming move…

I offered my 57 year old body for the move…and I will work that young man’s ass off on the day of the move.

Tomorrow I take my grand niece out shooting for the first time…and this fall I get to take her hunting.

Sometimes living is simply enough.
