There have been quite a few others that have gone down the road like the 30-30, 303, 7.62 Russian, etc. It really didn't occur to me until this little exercise, but I only have four rifles left that use cartridges newer than 100 years. I wonder what that says about me....

I still lean heavily on the 6.5x55 Swede for most of my deer hunting. It’s hard to beat that low recoil and sectional density even after a century. I mostly stopped using my newer magnums because they just weren't necessary for the distances I shoot.

30-06, 7x57,8x57,250-3000 savage, 9.3x62, 22 long rifle, 300 savage,9x56 MS. The only caliber rifle I have that’s less than 100 is a savage 99 in 308.

Can never go wrong using Nosler partitions.
I was never so happy to stop using a bullet in my life as I was with Paritions.
I mean using a bullet that was designed to fall apart, losing 15% to 35% on impact.

This was the last lead core bullet I used before going to Barnes all copper.

I shot a big tough wild boar with it and it fell to pieces,

Reminded me of a song by Patsy Cline, "I fall to Pieces".

Barnes bullets required a learning curve, no question about, and they did spend a lot of R & D time working out the bugs, but when they did, "WOW" using their bullets was like having Bruce Lee coming out of your barrel, a lean mean fighting machine.

Partitions came to represent the no longer of value past, old, slow overweight, and falling apart.

Merging high tech Barnes bullets in old rifles was such an efficient step up for old calibers. It put the testosterone back in them.

Partitions belong in a rocking chair, still needing a blanket on them even in front of the fire. Old, cold, not bold.

I am glad you are happy with the Barnes bullets. You do realize the partition was designed to lose weight in the frontal portion to create a wider wound channel right? The copper bullets do come with a caveat, in that you must use a lighter bullet in order to get the speed required for them to open properly. Six of one half dozen of the other. You spends your money and live with the results. Partitions have never let this old fudd and his older rifles and calibers down yet. Use what works for you, but don’t trash things that work.

30-06, 45-70,45acp, 38special, 22 S L LR, 44spl, 44 mag, 9x19, 380, 12 gauge, 45 Hawken, 50 cal, 45 Bp, 44BP, 36 BP, hawken, 410, 20 gauge.

You won't get arguements from me over any of this. If some one else said it was and i GOT ONE, i PUT IT ON THERE.
