Vortex Viper HS LR

I am considering buying a Vortex Viper HS LR scope in 4x16x44. I see they have a custom turret and also an elevation turret. My question is how does the standard turret work. How do you set it up so you can shoot your particular load out of it? How do you make adjustments for different ranges? Thanks, Clay

I have the Vortex HS LR 2.5-10x44 with the dead hold reticle. Are you referring to the V-Plex reticle as the "standard reticle" and the dead hold as the "elevation"? I can tell you that the scopes are well built and very sharp and good in low light. Very good for the price. I'm happy with the dead-hold reticle. My understanding of how the Vortex stuff works is that they work with a third party, Kenton Industries to build you a custom turret, and that there are a few different options there as well.
