unit 20 colorado elk

Will be hunting unit 20 this September archery, can anyone tell me best time (before muzzle? third week?There is very limited muzzle loader tags for the unit so that may not have much affect with too many hunters in the field. The biggest question is I have hunted archery in the state for 6years and never had much trouble locating bulls. It is best to use an outfitter in this unit or what about just going on my own.I have no problem with the outfitter if it makes a big difference.
