I’d try a yodave trigger spring before you swap out the whole triggger. Tikkas and Sakos already have a great trigger, made even better with a lighter spring.

I've put a Mountain Tactical spring in each of mine, and they perform as good as I would want in a hunting rifle. I'm not a huge an of the 2-stage feel that the Tikka triggers have, but man do they work well.

KRG, Timney and Bix'n'Andy all make replacement units but I've never had a problem with the OEM Tikka triggers. As @MTLabrador and @turbobrick have suggested, I'd put an aftermarket spring in a Tikka before I spent a couple hundred bucks replacing the whole unit.

Supposedly trigger tech is coming out with one this year. I like their triggers.

I'm waiting hard too. I have a tikka that likes to randomly go off when I close the bolt. And that's with the trigger set at 6lbs. I just don't trust it and want a different one in to figure out if it's bolt related or not.

Factory trigger spring? Have you confirmed the bolt holding the trigger to the action is fully torqued?

Seems to be two common problems that can cause safety/reliability issues with the trigger:
1. Screw that holds trigger to receiver loosens - can result in a dead trigger or firing pin dropping on bolt close like you explained. I've never heard of it happening to a rifle that has never had this screw removed or loosened from factory settings. If it is removed, locktite and plenty of torque should keep it from moving once it is re-installed.
2. Aftermarket trigger springs result in trigger not being drop safe or firing pin falling on bolt close. These light springs weaken with time and dont put enough pressure on the little plunger dealy. Lots of coverage on this issue on rokslide where the aftermarket springs are advised against. For hunting trigger i've never had one that couldn't be adjusted light enough with factory spring but there is some variability.

The aftermarket one i've been most intrigued by is the KRG midas.

Yes and yes. I put a factory spring in too as that was my first thought. I got the gun used and I'm thinking that's the issue. I looked at it hard and it doesn't look like anyone stoned it, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't jacked with.

I like TT triggers so that's my plan. I like their triggers better than the newer sakos I have. I got the gun for super cheap, so I'm not too worried about it. Like disturbingly cheap (300 for a stainless). I thought I got it cheap as they weighted the stock a lot, but I'm thinking it's a home gunsmith special. I only wanted the action anyway, so yeah, I'm not too worried about it. If you're curious, I put a factory fluted 6.5x55 on it and dropped it in a peak stock.

It probably doesn't make any difference, but it's a really early t3. But it was never shot much at all. 22.250 and I scoped the barrel.

The firing pin goes off even in a factory stock. I bought a couple as my plan is to cut them down at different lengths for the nieces and nephews to use if any of them want to go hunting with me.

I wanted something light and cheapish to beat around with. The peak stocks fit me like they're custom for me, so I went this route.

On a side note, I bought a used sako deluxe a while ago that doesn't heaspace right either. It's long. It's fine as I reaload, but I have more issues with their guns when no one else seems to. I'm not bashing as much as going huh. It has the nicest wood though so I'm keeping it.

Interesting. Sounds like someone messed it up. It's a bummer that there aren't readily available factory replacement triggers priced in line with what the whole rifles sell for.

Trigger Tech does have one on the way.....that being said, I also just put a Mountain Tactical spring in my 22-250 rig and it is all I could ever need in anything but a high level comp gun. I like LIGHT triggers in my guns and this one (NOT dialed to its lightest) is at just around a pound right now.....probably could go to around 10-12 ounces given what is left. I have another spring that is going into my 300wm when I move it into an MDT set up.....the springs are only $9 a piece.
