Tikka stainless 300 wsm action

Genuinely curious, not being obnoxious, are you addicted to rebarreling/tinkering with Tikkas or are you a gunsmith?

Love tinkering with tikkas. Whe I was younger it was savages with the barrel nut system and multiple aftermarket parts. Now that there’s shouldered prefits for tikkas that’s my go to. Also helps that it’s one of the smoothest mass produced actions out there and the factory trigger is great. No need to be a gunsmith to rebarrel a tikka. Tikka actions are all one length. So you can trade your bolt with someone and build a completely different cartridge. Swap mags and bolt stops to go from short action to long action

I’ve heard that breaking the barrel loose from its factory action can be challenging. Fake news?
I had a Tikka that was an absolute bear to break free. I ended up having use a combo of heat, extreme torque on barrel vise, 60grit sandpaper, and sledge. I damaged the cerakote on the action and the barrel is basically destroyed.
