Haha! Fair. I’ve come to realize that no matter how low deer or birds numbers get, out of town hunters will be unfazed.

To some degree you can’t blame them. What we consider dismal is fantastic to a lot of other people that live in places they don’t see any deer.

Oh 100%. It’s all relative. I joined my brother in ND mid November for his hunt in a draw area with beautiful habitat for whitetail.i felt kinda bad complaining about the deer numbers and lack of size here after seeing very little sign and few deer on his hunt.

As @cgasner1 said, don’t blame us. We’re middle aged beta males from the ‘metro area’. We make sure all the kids at the pine wood derby get trophies and the same goes for us. Consolation prize bucks. As long as they have a big frame. Not our fault, maybe blame the FWP. Some of the locals say the FWP stands for Fish, Wildlife, and Poor Decisions.

Complex laws let 1,100 extra nonresidents hunt deer on Montana's public lands

Over 1,000 additional nonresidents can hunt deer on Montana's public lands this season, thanks to a law intended to restrict those licenses to specific private properties.

At least the commission is doing something right. Best we have had in a long time imo. And i bet theyll continue to do more.

Absolute fact that NR hunting pressure has exploded here in the last 15 years and anyone whos telling you different has been buffalo'd.

The commission also approved an increase in 900 archery tags that resulted in an enormous increase in NR draw success (76%).....There is a major issue with tag allocations that then set up higher tags to NR. That one increase in 900 archery tags increased NR antelope tags by 500. This can be seen in B tag allocations as well. If residents aren't applying, NR are getting those tags.

My daughter got a job with FWP for the hunting season. She's taking samples for CWD testing. When I asked if anyone brought any big deer in she said she saw one decent buck. The next day she said that a 12 year old brought in a big one but that was it.
