Got out tonight for a short hunt after work. First saw three does, then a little forky ran three more does by me, running them around, hazing them and grunting.

Then a pretty decent nine point appears about 100 yards out, worked my way to within about 50 yards, was making rubs and acting frisky. He was about 15" wide, probably a 2-1/2 year old, the kind you need to let grow one more year. Can't wait to see his grand daddy.

Hope she cools down this weekend, if so it will be good hunting.

Steiny,

Believe you are right.

I was golfing at the Amana Colonies in central Iowa last Wednesday, which is heavily wooded in rolling oak trees.

We saw one decent buck running a fork horn all over heck for about 5 minutes before they went over the hill. Funny as heck too!

Definitely getting active...

Steiny- My dad saw a small 6pt (Eastern count) chasing does last week down around Evansville. Seems like the rut is getting revved up a bit.
