Tell me about Wisconsin...

Since we are on this thread......I'll put out feelers. My son got a promotion at work (he works at Scheels as well) and will be taking over a shop mgr job in our new store in Wawatosa. He'll be headed out just after the first of the year. Any suggestions on place to live nearby (I believe they are refitting the previous Sears store) would be appreciated. Just him, so small but decent is the plan. Thanks
Tosa is nice area but small and surrounded by some pretty scary ghetto areas. It's a weird area that is like an island in a sea of crap. Nice parkway along the Menomonee river, and a small downtown that has some night life. Tell him to learn fast where not to travel and not stare at anyone in those areas. I am serious, I am telling you just in case he never had that kind of surroundings. As far as living, depends on the budget and lifestyle. Some like the trendy east side, some like old world 3rd street area, some get as far as they can stand driving to work from there. Menomonee falls is a step up and a 15 min drive if he wants calmer area. The area directly south is a decent area but usually $$$ because the doctors and interns at the medical complex house there.

My aunt and her husband live on the edge of Menomonee Falls and Germantown and that seems nice-ish, and my sister lives in Wauwautosa.. she doesn’t mind it, but her lease is up so she’s looking to move.
If he’s open to commute, I went to the tech by Oak Creek and stayed in South Milwaukee and those surrounding areas were tolerable.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that is going to be a rough store. Truly wish the best for him, but that mall (Mayfair) has been rampant with various forms of lawlessness for years now. Scheels' loss prevention will be definitely earning their keep at that store and hopefully they aren't too hard on employees on loss of merchandise. Really was confused as to why they chose that location. Went from going to see Santa there as a kid to having a heavy police presence and youth curfew within 15 years.

Brookfield and the town of Brookfield is a nice city just west of all the drama there, but pricey.
