Hello all, I was hoping for a little info. I am trying to get the grand slam in turkey's. What I thought about doing is trying to take a Merriam in South Dakota and go back around the same area for a mule deer in the fall. That way I would be familiar with the area. I guess my question is what area would be good for both (south west, south central , etc.)? Your help is much appreciated.

Might also look at NW Nebraska. I dodge turkeys coming and going to/from public land driving to work about every day. Fall tags are about $100 buck for 2 birds and you can kill 4 in the fall.

The lead/deadwood area is where I grew up hunting turkeys. Nice deer around their as well. Plus, the area is cool to spend time in. I think better Muleys are had more in the nw corner, Harding county/ buffaloe area.

Thank y'all. I know there isn't much reason to come to Alabama , but for turkeys and January whitetail rut. If y'all ever decide let me know and I will help y'all out.

Thanks

I killed a good one about 15 yrs ago in the Black Hills/Badlands area. Shot the only bird I saw that week. Both of my hunting partners got skunked that week. At that time, you could still use a rifle which seemed strange to me.
