How's the hunting for deer in these states on public land ? I'm applying for a hydro plant operator job on the Missouri river in the south east corner of south Dakota and was wondering how the hunting would be.

I can't speak for SD but being from Nebraska I can say that the very minimal public land there gets hit pretty hard. Not saying it can't be done just saying you will have company when hunting.

Yep. There are good deer taken every year on public land in Nebraska, but if that was the only place that I had to hunt, I would probably not hunt. I don't like crowds.
