As a flatlander from Iowa, where I do not think we have wolves..... even though sometimes people report seeing one.... I have some questions.

First off I would love to shoot a wolf.

1. I realize that this is a "public land" forum for the most part, however, are people willing to allow access to land to hunt these wolves?

2. How do you hunt wolves? Predator calls (remember I am a newbie on this subject).

3. Is it hard to shoot a wolf if done under the right conditions?

Thanks for your input.

good luck to all

Some ranchers are letting people on, but you sure don't need to be on private land around here to find wolf tracks.

Predator calls seem to be the best way to get them in for the guys I know that have killed them

Is it hard? Apparently not for some(notellm). He just found some tracks, followed them 150 yards into the timber, squeeked on a bunny call, and one came running up him, begging to be shot.

For me? I have them running through my blind I threw together in my deer hunting spot, yet I can't seem to lay eyes on one!!! LOL Now, I have the time to hunt, I know where they are, but I am now stuck in court, having actually been picked to sit on a jury, while the quota is filling fast. Good God!!!

A friend of mine bought a Rocky Jacbson wolf calling system. We called wolves in the evening but seemed to wait till it was to dark to see them. The wolf howler carrys a long ways to help locate them. I talked to a few Canadians who hunt/trap wolves and they track them in fresh snow. Howl with there mouths and call them into range for a shot. They told me mornings were best, me and a friend both got ours in the morning following fresh tracks. Used rabbit calls. There are more than enough wolves on public ground. I sure would love to see the quotas met!:D
