I am liking having a digital camera so over my lunch hour I decided to make a quick trip to the Fort Peck dam and see what was around.

These two pics were taken from on top of the dam. I just took one looking south at the upstream side of the dam and turned around and took the one looking south at the downstream side of the dam

Looks like the rip-rap is doing a good job keeping the water at bay. ;)

When are you guys going to turn the facuet back on and fill that thing up. :D

How much below capacity is the lake? It looks waaaaaay low!!!

Full pool elevation is 2246 so that makes the lake, as of 6-1-05, 46.4 feet below full pool. In the third week of June of 1997 the lake elevation reached 2247.0 and then it filled the emergency pool to an elevation of 2251. Since then is has been drained down to the current level.
I will tell you walleye firsherman that when it fills again get ready for some great fishing. All the trees and weeds that have grown up on the shore line will be flooded an when that happens the walleye fishing gets great.
