Small Bullets (.224) and BIG game

I shot a few deer with a .223 and 77gr TMKs this season. They all died

I’m craving a ph3 in 6 or 25 creed and a tikka 223. Maybe I can justify them as future investments for my four year old son

My 6 Creed PH2 has shot phenomenal. The performance per dollar is hard to match. I prefer the Tikka actions but for NRL Hunter it made more sense. Tikka is supposedly releasing a 6 Creed themselves this year.

I’ve piled up a lot of meat with that in a 6.5 Swede. Bang flop.

The only downside is that it jellies meat just as well as it jellies vitals.

Speaking of 22-250, I have a #1 with 14:1 twist. Getting anything to shoot straight over 53 gr. has been impossible. I'm also building another Predator with 10:1 twist. I need to shoot copper. Anyone got any suggestions?

With the 10” twist you will need to stick under 60 grains for coppers. I’d look at the 57 grain hammer hht

Not to offend mt.muley but I haven't had great luck with the Hammers. I have a box and a half of 30 cal 166's i would gladly trade off.

I've got a Browning X-Bolt with a 1-9 twist that I've shot 64 grn TGK out of with good success on deer and antelope.

My daughter and I have shot several deer with fast twist 223s and a few different bullets ranging from the 62 gr Barnes TTSX to the 77 gr Sierra TMK. While we haven’t shot anything at RS ranges, I have been more impressed with the TTSX than the TMK.

Come to think of it, I did shoot a cow with an 80 grain TSX from my .243 at about 200 yards. It ran about 100 yards and died. The bullet did not exit.

I'm having an 8 twist put on my .223 and just love shooting that rifle. Not sure about grabbing it to go hunting with a few other likely more widely accepted choices, but why not?

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Since the 22-250 AI tread went cross ways, What states are .224 calibers legal for elk? If legal what are the parameters? Colorado they are not.
