Looks like our buddies in the 'Root are serious about this wolf issue. Thanks to TJones and ShootStraight for the work they are doing over there. I must have missed this article and if it is posted somewhere on the site, I apologize for the duplication.

If they post their wolf pic here, they will get a free Season Three OYOA DVD, even if they don't win the rifle raffle. DVDs should be in this week.

Great idea guys. Now, if some dudes would just start filling that quota. Guess we might have to come over there and film our wolf hunt.

Oh, man, a wolf pelt on the wall.....................that would be sweet!!!!

I'll be out next week fin finding our query..............hopefully anyone else who gets any leads will let us know. Would be the ultimate to get that on an episode. I'm ready!

Thanks Randy!

This all came together from a lot of work put in by our Board of Directors, lots of input from a great bunch!

A bit of an update since the story was printed, Game Trails Taxidermy in Florence has partnered with us and now we are offering to the winner of the raffle his or her choice of the CZ rifle OR the tanning and rugging of the winners wolf hide.

So starting December 1st, successful wolf hunters harvesting a wolf in HD 270 or HD 250, both in the upper Bitterroot, can be entered in a drawing to win one of the 2 prizes. All names will be kept confidential. To enter, harvest a wolf, call me 406-381-0587 and you are in. Call also for more info.

We are looking to fill quota, so good luck all!

If you live in Ravalli County and don't belong to RCFWA, then you are truly missing out. RCFWA has been at the forefront of the wolf war for a long time, and if not for Tony, Robert, and the guys, we wouldn't have the wolf hunting season or the Simpson/Tester delisting rider, we'd also have a piss poor management situation that was coming down a loaded track in regards to the wolf issue in the MT legislature.

Great job Tony! Hope I get my name in the hat for the rifle. :)

Thanks Ben, we truely do have a great BOD and general membership. Its a group of guys and gals that know no fear, they will butt heads with the best, and meet you in the trenches and not back down. The Bitterroot is down, and down bad, but we are not out, not yet.

Oh by the way, ya don't have to live in Ravalli County, we will take anyone! :)

Here is our web site www.rcfwa.org

Ben, I hope to see your name and a lot of other names in the hat!

I would be out everyday if not for those damn bills. I wonder if Northwest energy, or maybe my mortgage company would rather see me kill a wolf or pay them? Hmm,

The wolves really hit the lower land masses in those districts in the next couple of weeks. Might make for some good wolf hunting then. Lion hunters will be in full force. Rocky Dog, Tjones and I all have those tags too. What to do, what to do?

Some of you older "Hunt Talkers" know I also Trap in the winter. So I'll be running my line too. I love Montana.

I was reading the Salmon Idaho paper the other day and the local Fish and Game is offering a trapping course in regards to wolves I believe. I wonder if we will ever get a trapping season?

Randy I would love to get in on this but I'm not sure if pictures are a good idea considering my location.

Yeah, that could be a problem. Not sure how to get around that one, other than to get a season for you guys. It would be good for your taxidermy business and you could trap wolves, in addition to beaver, marten, and fisher.

We will accept pictures of road kill, if that helps. :D

I've not heard of moving forward with a trapping season yet. A lot of folks are leery about how that looks in relation to the attempts to ban trapping on public land in MT by groups such as footloose. I-160 was their attempt last year, and they didn't get enough signatures on the ballot, but based off of what I've heard, they spent the last year raising money and recruiting volunteers to get the required number of signatures.

I would think that trapping will be a tool later on, once things settle down, if they are ever allowed too by the money machines.

Thanks Randy!

One more update. This is now a wolf photo contest. Submit a photo of your upper Bitterroot harvested wolf and you may win one of the two prizes. Either the CZ M1 American .223 rifle OR the tanning and rugging of the wolf hide. Photos will not be distributed. All other rules apply.
