Sept 18-20 Montana goat hunt

Took a little trip this weekend. Hiked in about 6 miles and set up camp Friday after work. I might have snuck out a little early. Spent a large part of Saturday hiding from the storms and lightning. Sunday and Monday were pretty nice. Saw a few billies but only one I liked. Made a run on him Monday am but couldn’t connect. Had a 400 yard opportunity which I’m normally comfortable with but didn’t like where he was and knew if he went 100 yards after I shot I could be screwed so I didn’t pull the trigger. Here are a few pics from the weekend. Planning on a 4 day trip first weekend of October. Any input on the Goat in the attached video would be welcome. Video was taken at 1700 yard so...

The goat in the video has some good bases for sure. Hard to tell on length from that angle. I would say mature billy though for sure.

Good luck and be safe, there will be more snow by then I would think.

This is just over 9 inches, comparing it to your third photo, I am guessing yours to be a bit under 9 inches...

He’s not that big. He is very proportional but young. I watched him in august also. He’s very deceiving. We were under 300 yards for a long time. He is also very unbothered by people. This is the same goat front view.
