Here is your chance in the SE part of the state to offer input. Mr. Prenzlow says that public input plays a large part in how natural resource management decisions are made. The private land bighorn sheep access proposal is his baby, so maybe he can explain the reasoning to you.

In all seriousness, it would be helpful if sportsmen showed up and demanded that no unit-wide sheep licenses currently issued in the public draw are reallocated to the ranch draws during implementation of the access program. The license figures presented to the Commission last week indicated that they intend to reallocate 4 licenses a year that are currently issued in the public draw to the ranch draw, including all licenses that are currently valid for hunting on the Pinyon Canyon Maneuver Site. The net effect under the 3:1 ratio will be a loss of 3 public licenses per year.

Join the CPW Southeast Regional Sportsmen's Caucus Meeting in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites hunters, anglers and other wildlife enthusiasts to participate in the Southeast Region Sportsmen Caucus Group Meeting in Colorado Springs, at 6 p.m., July 27 in the classroom at the Southeast Region Office, 4255 Sinton Road.

The meeting is part of the ongoing statewide Sportsmen’s Roundtable process set up by CPW to facilitate information exchange and discussion on issues of regional importance. The goal of the meetings is to increase dialogue between regional staff and local sportsmen.

"It's important that people attend this meeting and bring feedback," Southeast Regional Manager Dan Prenzlow said. "Public input plays a large role in how natural resource management decisions are made."

Input from this meeting will be brought to the attention of the statewide Sportsmen’s Roundtable meeting in August.
