I was out stalking deer tonight and heard that familiar call. Saw at least 3 flocks of SHC moving south.

Hope I can get that deer out of the way before the cranes leave CO!!

About a week ago now I was out looking for deer also, bet I had 1500 or so of them fly over me way way high. Pretty neat to see and hear.

While antelope hunting in late September in eastern Wyoming I hear this "cooing" noise in the middle of the high plains. I look up and see this flock of cranes circling above. they circled for about 15 minutes before heading south. Dis-oriented??? Looked to be about 200 in the flock.

the dog

As far as I am concerned, they are best eating of all waterfowl!
Cuppla buds just got back from Wynyard area of SK....an area one of the other of us have hunted for over 20 years....for the first time in many years, no Cranes or Snow geese were killed! They were apparently still to the north of the lakes.....but ducks rained from the sky along with Lessers and Cacklers.
