Sage grouse family hunt

Well we made it to the area today and hunted hard but never seen a grouse. We did see a nice herd of elk with a really good bull so the kids got to see their first elk. Lots of antelope and a big old jack rabbit

That’s the good news. Get to Lander and the air b&b was a dump. The toilet was leaking and the shower was backing up. Bugs everywhere in the house.

So we are staying in a hotel but they only have a room for tonight. So trying to figure out the next two nights lodging. Or if anyone knows a place to hunt grouse of any kind toward Riverton we could move up that way. I just know the area between Atlantic City and Farson a little bit so that’s where we were going to hunt

I’m pretty desperate so I’m all ears if anyone has a idea where to go

And today is my 23rd wedding anniversary momma said well that’s just our luck.

No grouse this morning and now it’s raining. Looks like we will head up to Cody. Maybe we can find a place to chase some blue grouse. Or hopefully get on some fishing

Here's a newsflash, at least for the Bighorn Basin (NW part of Wyoming). PARCHED! Droughted out and over-grazed. It's going to be difficult to find any remaining Sage Grouse.

For fishing, the North Fork of the Shoshone, closer the better to Buff Bill Reservoir, should be pretty good

Last week was the first time I've ever been to Wyoming and not seen a sage grouse. I was hunting pronghorn in the SW corner. It was pretty dry.

The barrels for the wing collection had a lot of wings in them. Looks like they might have got hit pretty hard opening morning. We just rolled into Cody going to shower and change then go get some ice cream at little shop in town. We will check some places out around here. My son is excited to go to some of the fishing stores in the morning and hopefully he can get some pointers on trout fishing with an ultra light.
I mean hey a trip with the family is still a good trip. With a junior and a senior it might be the last one we are all together on
