Ok so I just picked up a Hawkeye in s/s, 300wm. Not reloading yet, have to get dies, but am wondering what everyone's choice in powder is, also best bullet weight to use, I'm thinking 165-180 grain should cover all needs, but am open to suggestions. Thanks.

I worked up a load for my brother's 300wm, IMR 3031 pushing 180 grain Hornady interbond. very accurate and he has killed several elk with it.

Are you sure it was 3031?

That is not a common 300 WM powder. I'd be surprised if you could even find load data for it.

I have h4350, will have to get h4831 & try that powder, as for the 3031 powder, I haven't found any load data for 300wm...

I load 165 interlocks in my 300 mag with IMR 4350. They flatten deer at 3200 fps. For elk I would load a 180 or a bonded bullet. Partitions or Barnes are always good choices

It was 3031, and I found several sources of load data for it, I will look it up this evening. it wasn't a conventional 300wm load, but we were developing a load for it, so we decided to give it a try. ended up being the most accurate one we had.
