Red Dots for Muzzleloaders

Howdy Folks,

I am toying with the idea of putting 1x red dot on my CVA Accura V2 Muzzleloader. What are some red dots that you like for your own muzzeloader, what are some key components that I should look be looking at? Has anyone tryied the Leupold Freedom RDS? It looks like they make one specifically for muzzleloaders, but I havent seen to many reviews on it.

I did a little research last winter, didnt find many options for red dots that had zero magnification and would mount on a traditional muzzleloader barrel.
Think there was one shotgun red dot that might have worked.

You can use a red dot or scope with no magnification.

I have tried traditional iron sights, red dot, 1 power scope, and a peep sight on my muzzleloader. The only thing that I have seen an advantage to is a 4 power scope that I tried in order to see how good I was shooting iron sights. I ended up with an altered peep sight though I could have stayed with original sights with no penalty other than all other sights make hold over easier.

The red dot and the 1 power scope just felt wrong to me and made the gun harder to clean while accuracy wasn't changed out to 200 yards.

I mounted a rail on my traditional muzzleloader in order to test the red dot and scope. I have since removed it.

Coolio .. I have cva optima v2 with a williams peep sight setup .. according to this I could use it there

I just broke down this January after a 6 year wait to draw a tag and failed mutliple times on decent Mule deer bucks. I was using one power scopes and just was not getting a good clear picture. I picked up a Leupold Freedom 1x. A little spendy but I feel a lot more confident with it. I just have to wait another period of years before drawing again. They are legal here, just no magnification.

I have a vortex viper I believe it is could have @sclancy27 verify that since he has my gun but I really like it
