Question About Tire Inflation Presuure

I have 8 ply load range D tires on my 2006 Ford Explorer. Most of the time I don't carry much beyond the posted curb weight. What would be a reasonable tire inflation pressure for general driving including interstate driving? I'm thinking 44 psi. Sound about right?
The tires have max psi listed on the side wall

I have 8 plu tires on my 89' Dodge W100. Got a good deal on them.
That said, I usually run empty.
Running 35psi in the front, 30psi in the rear.
Along with keeping my teeth in place, I'm getting nice even wear across the whole tread.

I figure if a guy can’t draw tags at least he can chat about tire pressure and such on a hunting rig forum if he wants. There’s some good ideas for the group here.

Feel free to let it twist your panties up.
I'm not sure why not drawing tags is an issue that makes one lower class as inferred here. I can shoot 6 deer a year within 2 miles of home if I wish. I love to see the sights and sites out west but I wouldn't care to have a carcass to contend with 1000 miles from home.

But in any case I FAFO about running 60 psi in these tough tires. Dropped it to 38psi cold and rides much better with no loss in mpg. I'll pump them up when I need to haul a ton of feed.

Late to this thread, but psi is based on tire size and weight of vehicle. That's it.

Doesn't matter what weight rating or max psi a tire can hold. The correct pressure is based on YOUR tire size and YOUR vehicle weight. In general, the more air volume, the less psi to support the same weight.

Consult a chart. Every manufacturer has one. Doesn't matter which as they are all the same. YOUR tire size, YOUR vehicle weight. The same truck will need the same amount of pressure with C, D, or E rated tires. Just because a tire is rated to handle a weight twice your vehicles weight doesn't mean you have to inflate it to a pressure that does that, unless you just like your truck to ride like a brick. YOUR tire size, YOUR weight.

I prefer Toyo's chart, but use which ever you like.

And ply rating, that's just for old people who don't understand C, D, E, etc. that have been used for the last 30 years or so. Most tires don't have more than about 3 or 4 plies regardless of weight rating. That max psi on the sidewall is max, not what's recommended.

The door sticker, that's based on GVWR, not actual weight. A good place to start, but if you drive a 3/4 ton truck because it looks cool, but you're afraid to scratch the bed and you don't own a trailer, it's well above what you need.

Again, don't guess. Consult a chart for your tire size and your weight.
