Question about a scope

I just had a question on a scope that I just received from a relative. Its a bushnell sportview 3x9x40, but it has on the elevation yardage marks from 150 to 500. I looked on the bushnell website but had no luck on finding this particular scope. In addition on the power dial from 3 to 9 it has white, red and yellow numbers for each setting. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this scope or how to aquire instructions.

thanks uber205

I have a 4X12 and the sportview was a low end product. I believe that the colors indicate different animal sizes for the bullet drop compensation (elevation adjustment). Use the power adjuster ring that changes your view from 3 through 9, to position the horizontal crosshairs to match the back and belly of your target (elk, deer, antelope). That should tell you the range to adjust the elevation of your scope for a point of aim shot.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works, I'll see if I can find the paperwork to verify.

good luck,
