I received an email about a virus detected on my puter that was sent by the "Administrator of Hunttalk". Anyone know anything about that?

Danr - Sorry about that. There is one group that goes to these forums and tries to send mass PMs to users. If you click on the PM, it takes you to their site.

They are SPAMMERS, and we do all we can to stop them. They are constantly coming in with different IP addresses, so the most effective tool of blocking IP addresses doesn't always work.

We do require email verification, and since they are manually doing this, they do verify their emails.

Sorry about that. I am noticing some trends in their activities, and I am hoping we have toasted them. But occassionally, they register with a normal name, and approved email, and an IP address that is not on the "blocked list." And they get through.

See the thread "Open Season on SPAMMERS." We have it locked down at tight as we can. I toast any person who even looks like a spammer anymore, and I know that in the process I am probably deleting some legit users. But, it is the only way to control it.

No problem FIn.. I dumped the PM as soon as I saw it going to a web site. Figured it was the same as last time. I did a scan of my puter anyway and found about 17 million tracking cookies.. so I cleared them out. Thanks for the note.
