I asked around the board a year and a half ago or so if any one knew what this guy might be seeing as we picked him up out of the pound in Missoula.

We finally found a picture in an old book and it showed what looked to be his twin.

My thinking is that some one lost a puppy and the Humane Society ended up with a very good animal.

After a quick search on the net and looking up the charactoristics of this type of animal.

We came to the conclussion that he is a Plott Hound and fits all of the definitions that we could.

I don't know if many remember me asking, but thought I would post what I finally found out...

He would make a great hunting companion if I were to train him into that job, but I just wouldn't utilize what obviously comes natural to him when we are in the field often enough to warrent the time and energy it would take to get him up to snuff...

One thing I have noticed, he can be running along at 20 miles an hour and a smell from a clump of grass or bush will stop him in his tracks and get him searching it out.

It is fun to watch that is for sure... :)
