Planning (trying) for first Archery elk hunt

Guys I have the itch to bow hunt for elk, but there's a catch. I work every day in Sept until the end of the month most years. So if I could bowhunt the end of the month or first part of October it would work the best. I have Montana narrowed down to the location. Now if someone could explain the prices and application for an either sex elk tag it would greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
