Once fired brass sizing

Bought a bunch of once fired Norma .270 WSM brass. Should I full length resize with a should bump before reloading in order to fire form to my rifle? Is neck sizing enough?

Does it chamber? Personally, I’d resize to be slightly smaller than your chamber.

I full-length resize every time for a hunting rifle. I'd rather know for certain the round will chamber in suboptimal conditions than try to eek out the extra 0.1MOA you might gain by neck sizing only.

I certainly would not rely on neck sizing for brass that not been fired in your specific rifle's chamber.

In my early years of hand loading I got into the neck sizing trend. I found over time my 300 win mag brass was getting wider somewhere closer to the base. This lead to it not chambering at one point. When i ran it through my full length sizing die, it started to scrape brass off of it. I stopped neck sizing after that. If there is a precision increase, my rifle does not need it.

Yes you should full length size before putting it into your rifle. If it chambers easily as is in yours you could probably get away with neck sizing if all of them were fired in the same rifle. It would be a good idea to cycle all of them thru your rifle if you want to try neck size only so you don't have to pull the ones that don't fit. FL sizing to make all of them fit into your chamber is the safe option.

Depends on which chamber is larger yours or the first firing chamber. If yours is larger you can probably get away with it. If the previous chamber was bigger you're going to have to FL it down enough to fit into your chamber. Both are .270 wsm chambers but sammi allows for a little tolerance in length and diameter off of the nominal design numbers.

I would recommend just full length resizing for the first time in your rifle.

After that up to you. Personally like others stated I just full length resize every time for a hunting rifle. I still get good accuracy but better feeding reliability.

I generally agree with the advice given. If the chamber they were fired in is tighter than your chamber neck sizing would be fine or even ideal but I wouldn’t go buy a neck sizing die to do that instead of FL sizing if you don’t already have one.

Personally, if I don't know the person that I'm buying or even being given the brass from, I won't take it.

I've been gotten several times with "once fired" for the primers not to stay in.

I only buy virgin brass, or from someone I know.

I always run them thru a die (min setting). For nothing else it trues up any neck damage.

I had 300wm brass that did that even when FL sizing every step. It resulted in a built up false shoulder in front of the belt so when i got a new barrel that brass wouldn't even chamber and was unfixable. Larry Willis makes a collet die specifically for sizing the body up to the belt to avoid such issues. I recognize this doesn't happen on all belted magnums but it did on my very first one so i'm not encouraged to choose another in the future.
