After 15 or so years of chasing trout, I decided last year to get into hunting. Drew my first elk tag this year. In doing some research, I (thankfully) discovered Randy's videos on youtube, which eventually led me here (also thankfully). Will be hunting second rifle in Unit 53 in New Mexico. I haven't earned any intel from you guys but if anyone with info on 53 who wants to help out a first timer, it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, someday I can return the favor with my some info for you or tie you a few flies.

I have never hunted it, but been up there. Get away from roads & talk to local LEO or G&F warden or biologist.You can usually get an idea of where to go or avoid a crowd or maybe camp safety. Never had a problem but I have avoided a few with camp choice.
