I spent the weekend bow hunting Arapawa sheep with my bow. After 6 years of hunting this particular property I finally connected with an ok 5 year old ram with my bow. I rarely hunt private land, but for this annual trip I make an exception and enjoy staying on a farm for a weekend a year.

👍 I want to hunt New Zealand ! Congratulations on your sheep

Great looking country. Those ridges are a tad steeper than I can jog up at my age. What is the altitude where you were? At about 2800 meters I get short-winded. Have hunted at 3300 meters on rare occasions and was as if I had lead boots on as I went up slopes.

The valleys are only 100m and the hill tops 300m max. It’s easy country for sure.
I’ve also hunted 3000m and was hard work! Takes me about 5 days to adjust.

Took a nice Arapawa sheep in NZ 2016 at Gary Herberts NZ hunting. Nick named him Marley. Nice shoulder mount in my game room. Have another hunt planned at GH foe a July 2022 if NZ is open to non residents. Hope it will come to fruition. MTG
