New to muzzleloading

Hello all,
I am new to muzzleloading as well as western hunting. I currently have a thompson impact. I have a small understanding that certain kinds of muzzleloaders are not allowed in certain states. I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on that.
Also if there are any suggestions for states to pursue muzzloading tags in

States all specify what type of rifle, bullet, and optics in the regulations. I know some states really don't care about what you're using while others heavily regulate optics, bullets, ignition source, and in some cases even if the ignition source is exposed to the elements. The regs change so I'm not sure which states allow what.

As for what states to choose for a muzzleloader, that I don't know. It's possible that Go Hunt may have that information.
