Are there any good public lands to hunt on down there? The only places near me are WMA tracts and Ft. Stewart. The WMA tracts are well managed but always crowded and Ft. Stewart isn't managed very well, most of the areas are overgrown. I've been trying to find some well managed land close to me, but haven't had much luck yet.

I hunt a few WMAs around here. I've had luck on all of them at one time or another. Some are definately better than others. Most of the WMAs down here are planted pines with thick palmettos and gallberry bushes up to your armpits and a few hardwood bottoms and cypress/tupelo swamps mixed in. I like hunting around middle-Georgia better. Do you only hunt local? There are some good spots within a couple of hours of Savannah.

Right now it's mostly local, Bryan and Effingham counties. The WMA in Bryan County is mostly oaks and some marsh. Ft Stewart has a little bit of everything, lots of pines, oaks and a lot of cypress swaps with the Ogeechee and Canoochee Rivers flowing through it. I have some family in Decatur County that I plan on seeing later this year, hopefully I can get some hunting in while I'm down there.
 
**Edit** A couple hours after making 11 posts I had the ability to send PMs. Does anyone know how many posts I need before I can start a thread or send PMs? I see a banner at the top of the screen when I log in that says 10 posts, but that doesn't appear to be correct as I'm over 10 posts now and still can't create a thread or send PMs.
